It was a weary spirit, teething-baby kind of day.

But this afternoon there were a few hours of smiles and sparkly eyes and dirty fingernails.

Children can stretch our endurance.  Children are also the ones who teach us about finding joy.

[The flower beds and Ian both got their first taste of spring clean-up.]

Zachary has been playing outside every day since it’s warmed up.  The kitty we added to our family a few weeks ago is redeeming itself.  I guess I can put up with it rubbing itself against my legs while I hang out laundry since it has become the companion Zachary needed to feel safe playing outside alone.

Two Zachary quotes from last week:

“Daddy, look!  Look!  The sky is so BLUE!  I am AMAZED!!!!”

Yesterday he picked 3 dandelions and brought them in for me.  I was thrilled there were actually flowers growing in our yard, and because he picked flowers for me on his own initiative.  Once I finished gushing over them he wondered, “Are you going to fry them up for supper?”

Katie and Zac l Wedding

March 5, 2010

Michelle came to help me photograph Katie and Zac’s wedding which made it doubly fun for me.   Sisters are the best for understanding what you want even when you only communicate half the thought.  :)   Thanks to Michelle for images 1 and 8.  I posted more on my Facebook page, and you can also take a look at their album here.

It’s a great time to cheer up your house with some new portraits!  I’m running a special this week for prints purchased through my proofing site.  Check your album here, to get started.  And be quick…the sale only runs through Saturday. It’s a great time to add those prints you were hoping to buy later.  :)
