Rod and Beth l Family

20 03 2009

I was extremely honored when Beth contacted me from Ohio (!!) and wanted to book a session while they were visiting family in our area.  We got together last evening and had gorgeously warm weather for our session.

Meet their family:

Jessica (7) + Alexis (5) + Trevor (2) + Brooke (16 mo.)

I had such a hard time keeping Jessica and Alexis straight.  I know three little girls named Alexis, but they are all three the older of two sisters.  Of course I kept calling Jessica “Alexis,” and Alexis “Jessica.”

Beth told me that Trevor was constantly on the go…and she wasn’t kidding.  We worked pretty hard for the family pictures, but that energy also made for some very fun shots like this one:

I love:

Brooke has got to be one of the prettiest (and sweetest) babies ever.  I want one, please.

Such sweetness–

I’m thinking  this would make a great 10×20!!

eab-043-standard-e-mail-viewThis picture was taken during a prayer of dedication at Emily’s adoption party.  She is being held by her mother and prayed for by both her grandfathers.   Although she’s too young to understand, she is incredibly blessed with the gift of people who love her.

I know I’ve blogged this one before, but it really was my top pick by far.

A. completely stole my heart when I met with his family.   He is an exceptionally sweet, little boy.  When I was taking pictures of his older sister, he kept wanting to get in on the picture, too.  To keep him occupied, I gave him a job to do–standing behind me then jumping out to the side  to make her laugh.   At the end of  their session he told me, “I had so much fun.  And do you know what my favorite part was?  Jumping out!”

This isn’t necessarily the type of shot moms are usually looking for, but I think it’s my favorite of all of these.

Favorite Pictures l More of My Family

16 03 2009

When I posted my personal pictures at the beginning of this series, I forgot about these.  And these may be my favorites of my favorites from last year.

The location for this first one was in an apartment that would be the last thing you’d imagine when thinking portraits.  But there was one spot with great window light and a close up shot blocked away any undesirable surroundings.

Favorite Pictures l Little Ones

15 03 2009

h-103-standard-e-mail-viewI love, love, love children!  I always have and maybe that’s why they are my favorites to photograph.  I don’t play with other peoples’ children nearly as much since I’ve become a mom, but I still find myself falling head over heels in love with little ones when we work together.  By the time we leave a session, I’m wishing we could get together the next week again.  And if you want me to think your children are adorable, just have me photograph them.  I often sit here oooing and ahhing over their cuteness–their eyes, curls, smirks and smiles.  Or maybe I’ve been blessed with super adorable subjects. \”/

Here are a few of the cuties two and under that I’ve learned to know last year–

These next few are all nieces or nephews:

If there’s one thing I can’t resit, it’s beautiful eyes.  Few things make me as happy as a portrait highlighting them.

I was just out in the yard playing with the children when I shot this next one.  His expression seems to be asking, “Why are you picking on me?”

Favorite Pictures l Most Requested

14 03 2009

Ha!  Ha!  Just had to say that even though it’s been requested all of twice. \”/

This picture was taken the end of 2007, so technically it shouldn’t be included in a 2008 series.  However, it’s one I used last year as a promotional image and has probably gotten more, “Awww” comments than any other individual image.   I would like to be proud of that, but I really can’t take credit for the handsome little guy who makes the picture so adorable.

When we had requests for this pose in front of an old brown door, we shot them at two other locations.  We did this same shot, but what I loved is that in the process we also got several other very cute images because of this inspiration.

Here are two more favorites of cute, little boys in front of brown doors.

Favorite Pictrures l Weddings II

11 03 2009

This is a huge amount of pictures for one blog entry, so I’ll set them up in the gallery this time.  If you click on a picture, you should be able to see a bigger image.

Wedding pictures make me so happy because the people in them are all aglow.  These are from the formal bride, groom, and couple shots along with a few groomsmen and bridesmaids groupings thrown in.

Sadly, I’ve had to decline several weddings in June because that’s also the month our baby is due.  Looking forward to second shooting Jamie’s wedding in two weeks!
